Our quests were:
Dr Edita Voitechovic – a scientist who spent two weeks at the Faculty of Chemistry,
Mgr Kotryna Gasiulyte – a doctoral student whose stay lasted a month,
Mgr Justyna Stonyte – a doctoral student who stayed with us for 10 days.
The guests were scientifically supervised by Dr Konrad Rudnicki, and their visit was coordinated by the team of dr hab. Łukasz Półtorak, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz. The visit was the result of cooperation initiated by Dr Konrad Rudnicki during his two-month postdoctoral internship in the laboratory of Prof. Rasa Pauliukaite in the spring of last year.
During their stay, Kotryna and Justyna conducted research on the determination of a selected dye at a polarised liquid-liquid phase separation. This work is closely related to the subject of the OPUS grant, managed by Dr Rudnicki. Additionally, Kotryna began experiments related to electrochemical studies of compounds of high biological importance, which will serve as preliminary research for a future grant application that we plan to submit under the European funds "Horizon Europe" in an international consortium.
Dr Edita Voitechovic, in addition to participating in the research, gave a lecture for doctoral students entitled "Features in development of the wearable electrochemical (bio)sensors". In addition, during the visit, talks were held between Prof. Półtorak, Dr Rudnicki and Dr Voitechovic regarding the planned joint grant application in the competition for Polish-Lithuanian research projects DAINA, organised by the National Science Centre (NCN).
The stay of our guests was extremely fruitful and the initial research results are very promising.
In connection with this, our first joint scientific publication will be published in the coming months.
In addition to intensive laboratory work, our guests also had the opportunity to visit Lodz and its surroundings, try Polish traditional cuisine and get to know our customs. We are all looking forward to the next editions of the PROM Programme at the University of Lodz and further cooperation.
We would like to thank Dr Magdalena Ferlińska from the Doctoral Schools Centre for her administrative and financial support for our guests' stay and for creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. Her help was invaluable!
We are looking forward to further joint ventures and new opportunities for international cooperation!
