The project objective:
The aim of this project is to create a regular platform to discuss new regulatory proposals for the Internet governance, promoting transparency, fairness and the inclusion of different social groups in the digital policy-making process at a global level. This platform will allow both communities, GAC and ALAC, to adapt quickly to new regulatory challenges and to engage effectively in the development of international policies. With the support of ICANN's Global Engagement Team, the project aims to effectively coordinate cooperation between governments and community stakeholders to respond to the growing challenges of global internet governance.
Assumptions of the project:
-
Regular sessions: The project involves organising monthly sessions, offering participants a space to discuss the latest regulations, challenges and trends in the Internet governance.
-
Meetings format: Sessions will take the form of short, 60-minute meetings during which key topics related to progress in international law regulations will be discussed, including in the context of the WSIS+20 Summit (World Summit on the Information Society).
-
Knowledge exchange and cooperation: Participants in these meetings – government representatives and individual Internet users – will have the opportunity to exchange opinions and develop common positions aimed at proposing global solutions to the challenges of the future of the Internet and the regulation of its use.
Implementation plan:
-
Preparatory Sessions: Preparatory meetings will be held prior to each session to further refine topics, key points and logistics of the upcoming meeting.
-
Coordination with ICANN: All costs related to the organisation of the meetings are covered by ICANN, while the Lodz Cyber Hub performs a coordinating function in organising meetings and working sessions.
-
Progress Assessment: Each meeting will review ongoing regulatory progress and highlight recent legislative proposals that have a significant impact on global Internet governance. Regular sessions will enable quick response to changing circumstances in this area.
Benefits for participants:
The project allows participants to better understand current regulatory trends and actively participate in the creation of global policies that shape the future of the Internet. Regular sessions also provide a space for stakeholders from different sectors to cooperate, and their exchange of views allows for more informed decisions.
